EVERYTHING FROM PINK SLIPS

IN THE HEART OF TIMES SQUARE
a $250 Grand Prize was awarded for the Most Creative Entry!
The first 100 participants received a Special Gift!
The co-organizers of New Year’s Eve in Times Square (Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment) invited the public to say goodbye, once and for all, to those bad memories of 2009 at the Third Annual GOOD RIDDANCE DAY. On Monday, December 28, 2009 from 12pm - 1pm, a dumpster, shredder and sledge hammer were stationed on the Broadway Plaza between 46th and 47th Streets to discard any distasteful, embarrassing and downright depressing memories from 2009.
People lined up to say goodbye to everything from disappointing report cards to CDs with a song they never wanted to hear again to fattening foods they've sworn to renounce – anything with a bad memory from the previous year. A dumpster was available for those un-shreddable items, and a sledgehammer was on-hand to pulverize all those bad memories away.
Participants were invited to write their bad memories on stationery available on-site and watch as those awful recollections get sliced into shreds. A Grand Prize of $250 was awarded to the Most Creative entry.

Thanks to the 100+ New Yorkers and visitors from around the world who joined us in mashing a year’s worth of bad hairstyles, loathed music, fashion disasters and ill-fated romances into an unrecognizable pulp of bad karma and negative vibes – which will then be carted off, never to be seen again. |
Because sometimes, you just need to let go.
